We are a special purpose company established to oversee the development, construction, and operations of algal growth and lipid extraction facilities domestically and abroad. Having concluded the research phase, and in finalizing our operations team, we are positioned to complete the 250-hectare algae to biodiesel farm in southwestern Louisiana. Furthermore, we have initiated development on an additional 1,000-hectare in Louisiana, and now possess contracts for a Southeast Asian farm and facility.
The algal oil that will be produced at the facilities will be ideally suited for conversion to biodiesel, a role normally filled by such industry standards as soybean and palm oils. Because of the tax credits currently available for biodiesel fuel production and the expected growth of the biodiesel industry, we plan to market our algal oil exclusively as a feedstock for biodiesel production. However, we believe that other uses are available for our algal oil product, to include biojet. Our algal oil will be competitive with other biodiesel feedstocks, such as animal fat or vegetable oil, but is not tied to the edible oils market, creating an attractive alternative feedstock for biodiesel production facilities.
